ADMISSION
Admission to U.G. and P.G. programmes in the colleges affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University is now mostly done online through the Centralized Allotment Process (CAP). All students desirous of getting admission under Open Merit and SC/ST Reservation Quotas (50% seats) are required to apply online by logging on to the Mahatma Gandhi University website: www.mgu.ac.in.
Applications for the remaining seats in this College under Management Quota, Sports Quota, Cultural Quota and Physically Handicapped Quota (50% seats) etc. shall be submitted directly to the College Office.

- Fees as prescribed by the Government of Kerala and Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. Caution Deposit (Rs. 1500/-) External Examination Fees and other MG University Fees etc. will also be collected.
- Fees for each Semester shall be paid as one time payment. First Semester Fees will be collected at the time of admission. The fees of other semesters will have to be paid as per dates notified by the College.
- The College reserves the right to remove from the rolls the names of students who do not pay the fees.
- In case a student is admitted late after the commencement of the academic year the fees for the preceding years, if any, will be collected at the time of admission.
- Every student is liable to pay the prescribed fees for the whole semester during any part of which his / her name is on the rolls of the College.
- Students leaving the College after enrolment will have to pay fees for the semester concerned.
- The student should keep the fees receipts issued from the College and should produce them for verification if so required by the College.
- Caution Deposit of students will be refunded only after surrendering the Original Receipt of remittance and paying all the dues payable to the College at the end of the course.
- Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
- Candidates who seek admission to the seats on the Management Quota should send to the Principal their applications in the prescribed form which can be had from the College Office on payment of Rs. 50/- (Rs. 55/- if to be sent by post).
- The duly filled in application form should reach the College Office within the stipulated time.
- Interview Card will be sent to the applicatns on the basis of their merit index. Three – Six Rupee Stamps should be submitted separately along with the application form
- Applicants provisionally selected will be required to appear for an interview at the Principal’s Office. Final selection will be made only after the interview.
- At the time of interview the applicant must be accompanied by his / her guardian.
- The applicant must produce the following documents at the time of the interview:
a) Interview Card
b) Transfer Certificate
c) Character Certificate from the Head of the institution last attended.
d) Pass Certificate of the Qualifying Examination
e) Migration Certificate in the case of students who have passed out from a College/ Institution affiliated to Universities other than Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
f) SSLC / SSC Certificate
g) Community Certificate
h) Income Certificate
i) Other relevant Certificates, if any - Students who belong to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Converts should produce Community Certificate and Income Certificate from the Village Officer.
- Students who wish to apply for any concession or scholarship or stipend should have kept with them an attested copy of the SSLC Book showing the date of birth and the Caste Certificate before submitting the same at the time of admission.
- Students are advised to keep for their own use, attested copies of the certificates submitted to the College.
- The selected candidates should pay the fees immediately, failing which they forfeit their claim of admission.
- The Principal of the College reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant without assigning any reason.
PROHIBITION OF POLITICAL ACTIVITIES INSIDE THE COLLEGE
In accordance with the judgement of the Hon’ble High Court of Kerala in RP No. 437/2003, the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, has issued an order vide No. 162/2004/2 dtd 16.02.2005 Elen. prohibiting all political activities inside the College Campus. College Union Elections shall not be conducted on political basis.
ANTI – RAGGING MEASURES
Ragging or harassment of junior students or any other students in any form i s totally banned in St. Thomas College of Advanced Studies Ranni, Edamuri. Anyone found guilty of ragging and / or abetting ragging is liable to be punished appropriately. The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Central and State Governments, the UGC and Mahatma Gandhi University have issued clear guidelines and instructions to ensure that no incident of ragging takes place in the College, hostels, canteens, transport facilites and such other places associated with the College. Any violation of these may be brought to the attention of the Teachers / Department Heads or the Principal of the College.
BAN OF MOBILE PHONE
As per the Order of the Higher Education Department of the Government of Kerala RT No. 1102/05/Hr Edn Dept. dated 24.06.2005, the use of mobile phone by the students in the College is banned.
